Bull of the Woods
Bull of the Woods is a two-day event that is the culmination of the Junior Forest Ranger crew member experience. It is one
of the few times in the summer where all of the Junior Forest Ranger (JFR) and Aboriginal Junior Forest Ranger (Aboriginal
JFR) crews get together.
Since 1985, the competition has showcased over 2,000 crew members in various skill-testing events.
Day One Events

Day one starts with camp setup and the sharing of aboriginal culture. The AJFR crews provide the JFR crews and visitors
with a glimpse into their culture. Events usually included are:
- Bannock Making
- Hand Games
- Storytelling
- Tipi Building
- Traditional Dancers
- Traditional Drumming

Day two of Bull of the Woods is the competition from which the event gets its name may include:
- Accuracy Chop
- Blindfolded Tent Set up
- Fire Building
- First Aid Scenarios
- Heli-Attack Pump/Hose
- Melon Roll (Hose roll and carry)
- Plant Identification
- Swede Saw
- Wajax Relay
- Wilderness Trivia
- Z-Drag
