Alberta Forest Week
Celebrate Alberta's forests!
Albertans are invited to join Sustainable Resource Development (SRD) in celebrating Alberta Forest Week 2011.
Alberta Forest Week is celebrated annually during the first full week of May. It’s a celebration of everything forests offer
us — not only in terms of recreation and economy, but also how we can become involved in conservation and stewardship. Take
the opportunity to make a personal connection with the trees and forests that surround you!
Just consider how each day, forests provide:
- Homes to many animals and plants
- Jobs and materials that fuel the economy
- Places to go camping, walking and hiking
- Vital oxygen for our planet
- Beauty beyond description
This year, the Government of Alberta invites you to celebrate forests with the international community. The United Nations
declared 2011 as the International Year of Forests. Their goal is to raise awareness of the vital role forests play in the
livelihoods of people around the globe.
Now that’s something to celebrate!
